Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center’s Ravinder N. Agarwal Renal Center received dialysis comfort bag donations from Heather Sienkiewycz, an independent director with Thirty One. Heather, with the help of many other sponsors, donate comfort bags across Northern New York and Vermont as a mission to brighten someone's day that has not been on the easiest of paths. Since 2014, Heather’s Facebook group, Northern New York Gives Back, has donated 223 comfort bags to dialysis units, cancer treatment centers, members of the military, people with cystic fibrosis, hospitalized children, foster care children, and the elderly, to name a few.
Heather loves doing the dialysis bags because of her friend Stephanie Gebo who helps spearhead the project. Stephanie, a dialysis patient herself, honors her father David Gebo, and aunt Marion Young, who were both past dialysis patient at the Agarwal Renal Center.
The Northern New York Gives Back Facebook page is where the group displays photos, asks for donations, and showcases the community giving back adventure. They are always looking for more sponsors and are open to ideas. Visit her Facebook page to get involved.
